The Kamloops Track and Field Club is very proud of its members' accomplishments, both past and present.  The following is a list of Canadian athletes from our program who have excelled and gone on to represent the city of Kamloops and the Kamloops Track and Field Club provincially, nationally, and/or internationally. All have represented our club with honour and grace and we are very proud of all of them.

Sultana Beveridge-Frizell

Hometown: Perth, Ont.
Event: Hammer
Personal Best: 70.94m


Sultana's passion is the hammer throw and she moved to Kamloops to train with Dr. Bondarchuk in September 2007. The 2007 competitive season was filled with many pluses in her throwing career. She took the National title and represented Canada at the Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she placed 7th. The 2008 season saw Sultana break the Canadian Hammer Throw record enroute to the Beijing Olympics. Sultana competed for Canada at her first Olympic Games in August of 2008 where she finished in 33rd place.

Jennifer Joyce

Hometown: Richmond, BC
Event: Hammer

Personal Best: 68.73m

Jennifer attended the University of California, Berkeley where she majored in American Studies and French. She was a two-time All-American and coached for 4 years at UCal, Berkeley during her stay. Jen was Canadian National Record Holder (2002-2006), three-time Canadian National Champion and 2006 Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist. She was injured in 2007 and did not compete. Jen moved to Kamloops in September 2007 to train full time with Dr. Bondarchuk.

Megann VanderVliet

Hometown: Oakville, Ont.

Hammer
Personal Best: 60.59m

Megann graduated in May 2007 from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI with a degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education. She started her throwing career 4 years ago, and ended her collegiate athletic career as a 4-time All-American in both the shot put and discus. Megann competed at the Canadian National Championships for the first time in July 2007 where she finished 4th in the discus. She moved to Kamloops in November 2007 to train full-time with Dr. Bondarchuk in pursuit of representing Canada internationally in the discus. She has since switched her focus solely to the hammer throw, and has made quick improvements. She finished 4th at the Canadian Championships in August, 2008.

Crystal Smith

Creston, BC
Event: Hammer
Personal Best: 68.60m

After high school Crystal attended junior college at North Idaho College and then transferred to the University of Wyoming where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. With a few years of remaining track and field eligibility Crystal then transferred to Ashland University in Ohio to train with 4-time Olympian Jud Logan, and also earned her Master's degree in Education, specializing in Sport Education, during her stay. Crystal moved to Kamloops in the fall of 2008 to begin training with Dr. Bondarchuk.

Crystal is a former Canadian National Record Holder and was the Canadian National Champion in 2006. In 2005 she finished fourth at the Francophone Games and was 6th at the 2006 Pan-American Games.
